European Civic Questionnaire

Objectives:

This questionnaire aims to anonymously and voluntarily gather European citizens’ perceptions regarding:

  • The state of freedom of expression, political pluralism, and democratic representation in the European Union;
  • The impact of EU policies on the public sphere, the media, and civic participation;
  • Trust in institutions and the perception of representativeness in European decision-making;
  • The role of citizens, political parties, and alternative platforms in the European democratic debate.

    Through this tool, we seek to give a voice to a significant portion of the population who may feel underrepresented in the political-institutional space. The responses will contribute to a more complete picture of the EU’s democratic reality and may inform concrete political proposals.

    Introduction:

    Democracy, the rule of law, and fundamental rights are foundational pillars of the European Union. However, these values only hold meaning if they are guaranteed for all, without ideological or cultural bias. Many citizens today feel that their opinions are undervalued, silenced, or even excluded from the European public sphere.

    In recent years, terms such as "disinformation", "hybrid threats", or "democratic resilience" have been used to justify policies that raise serious concerns about freedom of expression, ideological diversity, and equal treatment among different political parties, civil society movements, and citizens.

    This survey aims to create space for those voices. A free, respectful, pluralistic, and democratic space.
